Consulting with Management to Help Business Work Through People
Barbara Miller has thirty years of experience consulting to private, public and non-profit organizations.  She has worked successfully in such varied cultures as The U.S. House of Representatives, financial institutions, health care systems, high-technology, rapidly growing entrepreneurial companies, public sector agencies, educational institutions and grassroots non-profit agencies.  She has extensive experience working at all levels in an organization: CEO, mid-level manager and individual contributors.  Her clients include: Stanford University, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Juniper Networks, HSBC, Accenture, Hewlett Packard, U.C. Berkeley, Agilent Technologies, The Ford Foundation, Lucas Digital, Intel, Advanced Micro Devices and Applied Materials.

Ms. Miller specializes in leadership development, executive and managerial coaching and organization change strategies. Barbara's consulting work has included helping organizations to plan strategically, manage change, build teamwork, re-organize workflow and reporting relationships to improve productivity, downsize and merge.  Barbara has coached leaders at all levels in Fortune 500 companies.

Barb is certified to use the 5 Dynamics Assessment, a powerful coaching and team building tool. This Assessment focuses on our natural strengths, on work processes and is taken online in 2-5 minutes. Once taken, the Assessment can generate an individual report, a team profile and a coach and colleague report.

Barbara is able to bring a unique perspective to her clients because she has been a manager in four organizations.  She knows first hand about the day to day realities and pressures experienced by managers.  Thus, her recommendations are both theoretically sound and pragmatic.

She has also designed and conducted seminars on leadership, managing change, communication skills, behavioral interviewing, performance management, women in management, career development, conflict resolution, empowerment, self-managing teams and managing individual differences and work-life harmony.

Work-Life Research: Ford Foundation (click to learn more)
Artemis Management Consultants was selected to manage a three year, cutting edge action research project sponsored by the Ford Foundation on Work-Life Integration. The action research was conducted at Tandem Computers, Xerox and Corning.  As a result of this project, Barbara authored, ReInventing Work: Relinking Life and Livelihood to Benefit Business and Staff. The workbook has been translated into Japanese and Hebrew.

Virtual Leadership and Team Building (click to learn more)
Ms Miller is also the co-founder of Virtual Connection. She developed a six module, web based tool that teaches managers and teams how to work virtually. She customizes workshops to train managers and staff how to work remotely and globally.

A new area Barbara is exploring with clients is the challenges presented by having four generations in the workplace: Seniors, Boomers, Gen X and Millennials. She is helping leaders understand how to manage across the generations, how to recruit, retain, build teams and reward staff who have different values and work expectations.

Conference Speaker
Barbara is a frequent speaker at national conferences such as Working Mothers 100 Best Companies to Work for, The Conference Board, Global Business Partners, Businesses for Social Responsibility, and The Organizational Development Network.
